Here is a 1917 Type 1 Standing Liberty Quarter with exposed breast! The only coin from the US mint with an exposed breast. This coin was only minted for about 6 months. The censorship committee complained too loudly and afterwards she wore chain mail armor, thus becoming a type 2 coin.
I got this coin from my dealer for 100FRN. It came back from NGC ungraded as being too polished. It seems to have a full head. Could be Mint State except it is polished so it is too difficult to grade accurately. If you have other numismatic porn, go ahead and post. The Great Ag |

I cant remember 100% but I thought Type I vs Type II had something to do with the head and whats worn on the head? It's a beautiful coin though.

You will notice the FH designation on the PCGS page. The higher prices for the FH coins refer to "Full Head" If you look at the head on miss Liberty, you will notice that the hair and cap has been flattened, even though the coin is uncirculated. The dies for the coin wore out fast and very few SLQ coins have full detail on miss Liberty's head. So, if you ever see one with a well struck head, snap it up. |

Here you go, RossL. Best I can do. The first pics were from my scanner and these are from my 6 year old digital camera. Under my loupe (9x mag) I cannot see any flatness of her face. Her hair and features seem totally intact. The pics make it look like her face has been shaved, but it is just poor quality photography. However there is some flatness on her legs and wear on the coin. Pity it came back polished. I wonder if ANACs would grade this?
I will look into my scanner and see if it can get better resolution. I just got it yesterday and this was my first scan. BTW: Your coin is gorgeous! The Great Ag |

Here is a Johnson Matthey 3oz baby butter bar. Worth a few hundred but was able to purchase it for spot plus 1FRN.
These were given to company friends, to potential new clients (silver was cheap then). . .etc. So not too many were made. It has taken a beating during its life. Not a bad deal. Hey! I guess the easiest way to differentiate the 2 varieties; the variety 2 has 3 stars under the eagle on the obverse ...nice looking coin by the way
